Welcome to Our Site

Now that we are in hurricane season, here is some important information that you should know:

The Jaffe Animal Clinic is equipped with a full-building generator. In the event of a storm or power outage, our practice will re-open as soon as it is safe for the staff to return to work. If our practice is in a mandatory evacuation zone, animals in the clinic will be provided ample water and food in case we can’t get back in the building for a couple days.

Boarding is strictly on a first-come first-serve basis and priority is given to our own clients. Due to limited space, especially for large dogs, it is recommended that you not wait until the last minute before making your reservations. In the past two years of storms, we have been forced to evacuate our practice the day before the storm is scheduled to arrive. Waiting until the last minute might mean we are not in the building to receive your pet. A non-refundable deposit will be required on all boarding reservations when a named storm is present.

Palm Beach County now has a pet-friendly hurricane shelter available.  You must pre-register prior to a hurricane in order to be able to use this shelter. For more information, visit the website at
http://www.pbcgov.com/pubsafety/animal/PetShelter.htm

If your pet is on prescription medication or a special diet, be sure to have at least a 2 week supply on hand at all times during hurricane season. Although our clinic may be open immediately following a storm, our deliveries may be delayed due to road or weather conditions. If you board your pet, you will be required to bring your own food and medication with you since our supply might be depleted.

Be sure that your pet has proper identification on at all times. This can include a personalized tag and a microchip. It is recommended that you put your cell phone number on the i.d. tag as you might not be home at the time your pet is found. Your pet’s collar might be lost during a storm so a microchip is a safe backup to help you be reunited with your pet after the storm.

Hurricanes are very stressful for everyone in the family, including pets. Should your pets tend to be stressed during storms, you might want to have some tranquilizers on hand. Please do not wait until the last minute to stock up on supplies as our inventory might be depleted due to demand.

Our primary concern during and following a hurricane is our patient’s health and well-being. We will do everything to try to help you out during hurricanes; however, we need your help too. Over the past two years with the numerous storms we learned a great deal. Your patience and understanding during such times is greatly appreciated. During this time, our hours of operation might be limited to conserve generator fuel as well as to allow our own employees to prepare their own homes. In addition, phone service and supply deliveries are out of our control and might be affected. Together, we can get through storm season.
